St John's Organisations

Outside Mission

    • Mary Deppeler (Secretary of Missions)

Mothers Union

The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 2pm in the Church Hall meeting room.

We endeavour to keep our meetings interesting, often with guest speakers and special topics.

Our meetings begin with a short service, from our MU service book, followed by a short business meeting, and then speakers or activities.

The afternoon concludes with fellowship and a cuppa.

Members of MU visit the hospital and Northaven each week.

MU has 20 financial members at present and extends a warm welcome to visitors, so do come along and check us out. I assure you we will be happy to see you.

St John's Guild

We meet the second Thursday of each month, from February to November when we hold our Annual Meeting. We meet in the Church Hall.

We cater for light luncheons and birthdays. All the cakes are cooked by the members with a little help from other Church members. Our members are very prominent in helping at St John's Spring Fete and the Parish Fair.

We are all regular church-goers and help in such areas as church flowers, glass and brass cleaning, morning teas after Sunday services.

Our members are willing workers and are very proud of our new kitchen. As a result of our catering activities we are able to contribute to St John's funds and to Missions each year.

We would welcome new and younger members.

The Choir and Band

There is an emphasis on music in much of the worship at St John's. We are lucky to have a long choral tradition and, though choir numbers may fluctuate, the enthusiasm for contributing to the liturgy does not.

On special occasions the church band comes together to add an extra dimension to the worship. We are lucky to have good musical talent in our young (and not so young) folk.

But the mainstay of our music is the organ and the dedicated organists.

Choir practices occasionally for special events

Mens Group

This very informal group meets monthly, under relaxed conditions, for a meal at a local venue, often with a guest speaker. New members would be welcome.

The Social Committee

This dedicated and inspired group of people meets on the second Tuesday of each month to organise a variety of functions to extend the social life of St John's as well as to raise money to assist church finances.

has Pre-school and Primary age classes.

Classes meet on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month at 9.30am
for about an hour of bible based stories and activities
including involvement in the church service.

encourage them to join a class.
